Our beloved drum majors (:
You Know Your A Drum Major:
- When you get to yell at your friends, and they can't yell back
- When moving your arms up and down rhythmically is natural now
- When YOU get the awesome hats and oufits, and the rest of the band doesn't
- When you practice conducting wherever you go
- When you yell "band ten-hut!" in the middle of class just to see who'll stand at attention
- When someone actually does stand at attention bacause they "don't want to have to run another lap".
Last but most certainly not least, the drumline jokes(: You know your in drumline: - When the cadence constantly runs through your mind. - We bang. What else is there to say? - When you can speak "drummer." - When rhythms are easy to read, but notes, that's a whole other story (although most pit can read music). - When having around 45 pounds strapped to the front of you is seen as a privilege. - When you make fun of other drumlines (even though they got second and your band got third) - When you call the drums by they're actual name, and go into some sort of detail, like "those are quads, but we need to get some quints, but squints is just over doing it, or " how come we don't have a cymbal line? we have three pairs of 20 inchers and two pairs of 18 inchers!" etc. - When you know what was written above means - When you have an opinion on the afore mentioned - When you could talk about drums for hours, but have trouble holding a conversation with anyone on almost any other subject
